Information About Your Self-Test Kit (Rapid Antigen Kit)
What is a Self-Test Kit (Rapid Antigen Test Kit)?
Self-test kits are safe, easy to use, provide results within 15 minutes and, most importantly, are gentle. Self-tests only take a few seconds to collect a sample using a swab that goes into the soft part of each nostril. These tests can be done almost anywhere, at any time to see if you may have COVID-19.
Self-tests should only be used for people not experiencing COVID symptoms (asymptomatic). Anyone with symptoms should go for a full COVID test at the SHA's current testing sites or drive-thru testing options. Individuals with symptoms can also phone HealthLine 811 to ask any questions and book a test.
If your Self-Test result is positive, call HealthLine 811 and book a COVID-19 test through the Saskatchewan Health Authority as soon as possible to confirm whether or not you have COVID-19. Please follow all isolation and quarantine advice given by public health officials while you wait for test results.
When Should I Use a Self-Test Kit (Rapid Antigen Test Kit)?
Self-tests can be done at any time to see if you may have COVID-19. Some employers may require regular self-testing as well. These tests should only be used if you are not experiencing COVID symptoms (asymptomatic).
If you have symptoms, you should call HealthLine 811 to book a full COVID test. Please follow all isolation and quarantine advice given by public health officials while you wait for test results.
