★★★☆☆ good

I still enjoyed it but I didn't think it was as fleshed out as past books and there was A LOT of recap. Every character introduced, every magic item used, every magic/tech shift, every past even mentioned, I found it really disruptive and it just plain took up a lot of the words in the book, leaving less room for actual new plot and development.

★★★★★ Still a great series

This particular novel picks up almost immediately after the last novel. Curran and Kate are deeply in love but there are so many evil forces at work one wonders if their love affair will last.
